A visit to a local darshini

While I was living in J P Nagar, I used to frequent this local darshini. I am not even certain about that name of this place (I think it is S N Refreshments) but it is in one of the byelanes of 24th Main. A very small place it is, but then the food they prepare is sought after by many. The place is always crowded by people from nearby residence areas and people from far away places too frequent this darshini. A lot of my morning breakfast happened to be here itself. My usual request was a plate of 3 idlis and a coffee. Idlis came along with a spread of chutney (or sambar for people who wanted sambar, but not both). The chutney's spicy and YUM.

Someone who's into South Indian dishes, especially idlis, this place is a must visit. Just be aware that mornings and weekends are very crowded. So plan well ahead in the event you want to visit this place. One more thing to keep in mind. The place closes a little short of 7 PM and is closed during the afternoon hours. So we are talking about a small time window in which this place could be visited.

My ratings for this place.

Ambiance: *
Service: *
Food Quality: ****
Taste: *****
Rate: *****
Menu: Very limited.

Do not worry about the ambiance and service. Well darshinis are never known for good service. And as far as ambiance goes, one will come out of darshini and eat the food outside the darshini itself. So I guess it will not matter much.

Attached is the Google maps to this place. Hope you will enjoy this place too.

Experience Ethereal

No matter which part of the country you live, one of the most distinguishing factors for the people there is the food they eat. What's better than to try out the local outlets to taste the food they make. I am not much of a food connoisseur but I know one thing and I know it really well. What does my palate likes and dislikes. I am sure everyone will kind of agree with me that taste of food is something very basic of a human nature. Any human being can say/decide how certain taste is like.

When it comes to food there are a few things that I want.

1. The looks. I was once watching this program on TV once on Discovery Science. They were talking about (*surprise*) FOOD. The research scientist wanted to see people's reaction to food and different attributes about it. Well you have guessed it. One such attribute was the way it looked like. They had placed a very tasty (as they said it) chocolate pudding in the shape of human fecal matter (POO). The subjects were told that it is a chocolate pudding and were asked to try it. They didn't. Would you? I won't. So as I was saying, looks do inspire.

2. The smell. What would one like to eat? The food with a good smell? Maybe yes. I am stating a maybe for a reason. Another question. Will you like to eat a Masala Dosa that smells like strawberry? Well I am sure, people who are into strawberries may say an enthusiastic yes. But this will not do for me for sure. 2 reasons. I like my food the way it is meant to be. Second I am not a very big fan of strawberries. I like good smelling food but I like my food the most when the smell is good and kept to a minimum. A garlic bread is good if I do not get an overwhelming smell of garlic in it. A kadai chicken is best when presented with a fresh smell of coriander leaves. But then its me.

3. Finally the taste. I am laughing at the moment. Well the whole topic is about good tasting food and it happens to be the last in the list of what I look for in any food. But then there is a reason for this. I will not end up eating the food if the previous 2 fail. Of course it is the 3rd in the list.

Let the journey of food begin.
